Thai Iced Tea Ingridients

Thai Iced Tea (or Thai Tea) is one of the most popular drinks in Thailand. The Thais call Thai iced tea Cha Yen, which literally translates as "tea ice". Those who have tried this drink remember its delicious taste and unique orange color.

The Thai Tea ingredients consist of Thai black tea leaves, star anise and other Thai herbs and spices.

There are several varieties of Thai Iced Tea sold throughout Thailand, from restaurants to small sidewalk cafes.

  • Cha Dum Yen (ชา ดำ เย็น - literally "tea black ice"). This tea is dark red and served without milk.
  • Cha Yen (ชา เ ย็น) Thai Iced Tea with condensed milk. The milk turns this Thai iced tea a beautiful orange color.
  • Cha Ma Now (ชา มะนาว) - Lime Thai Iced Tea.
  • Cha Ron (ชา ร้อน) and Cha Dum Ron (ชา ดำ ร้อน) - Thai Tea served hot with or without milk.

The process of preparing all Thai Teas is the same. So how to make Thai iced tea?
